That's Why They Play the Game!
Sports are sometimes better than the movies. Many times, just like life things are not always fair. You prepare and train properly, but that does not guarantee success. The best team or best athlete doesn't always win.
But sometimes you get a result that you could not write a script for. And if you did, nobody would believe it.
So yesterday, 2 months after suffering a severe concussion from a cheap shot, Mark Savard was back on the ice. And not only contributed, but scored the winning goal in overtime.
During the post game interview, he talked about how he had been training very hard for the possible opportunity to get back on the ice with his teammates. He never lost confidence in him self, the medical team or the Bruins. The facet that he was back on the ice makes for a good story. The goal in overtime makes it a great story. To see his reaction after the turn around slap shot, tells you all you need to know about the road back.
Sometimes the good guys win.
